Sorry, dA admin dropped the ball on this one.
1. Okay, the extended the deadline one week. Lolz!
2. The rules have been "clarified". Meaning, they're still vague as fuck, but they actually state the art will not be used. Of course, this is two weeks later, and the reasoning for the funky copyright? Still not anywhere in the rules nor disclaimer where it should be if there are going to be joint parties handling copyright. The reasoning, you have to go to a pissed off admin's journal to find out why. If it was just dA, fine. If it was just Squenix, fine. But two seperate parties, no. You have the clarify.
3. I also got sick of linking to certain journals bashing the contest. Considering spec work is something that's been going on for decades, and yes, it's a big deal. However, this wasn't worth the pitchforks. Laughing at it and giving a little warning to our younger artists to watching out for things like this, yes definitely worth it. That's why I did my little journal entry

Honestly, this is one of the worst handlings of PA I've ever ran across anywhere. But it's dA; I shouldn't be surprised. I'm also personally offended that the admins running the contest are surprised and butthurt that people were suspicous. Well, when you're absolutely not upfront about what things are going to used for, then duh. This site has a community filled with professionals as well as amature artists. The admins themselves run a business and some are professionals themselves. When they should not be surprised that when word something like this clearly that their peers are not going to be supportive. That's why the entries for this contest haven't been as up-to-par as some of the other contests they have ran in the past, and unfortunately, they probably didn't get the kind of quality participation they've received in the past because of that. I shouldn't have to accidentally come across an admin's journal to know
why things are worded they way they are. That should've been a link in the contest disclaimer from day one

Anyway, my two cents. Just saying, this was really badly handled

. And I will say, even with the "clarification" done in the contest rules, it still reeks of two companies looking for spec work, even know I "know better" supposedly. And there isn't a link in the rules nor the disclaimer for the reasoning behind the work sizes.
